Post subject:  Small Jug?

Hello,

I would like to know anything about this small "jug" I bought at a flea market (for only 1$)...I put a can of Pepsi next to it so you can see how small it is...It is blue on one side (ceramic but not sure since I don,t know much about that) and made of stone at the back...It still has its cork on...
I'd love to know who made it, where it was made and for what purpose...Is it worth something?
Thank you so much!

I love it! ...and I love a mystery. Here are my guesses in order of what I think is most likely.
1) a mini stoneware whiskey flask. It could have had a paper label on the plain side. Sometimes given out as advertising and samples. ( kinda like a shot in a bottle to go) I think the redwing company and the uhl company made some. But I have never seen one with an unglazed side or that shape.
2) a medicine bottle, again with paper label
3) a perfume bottle that is worn around the neck or on carried in a purse to ward off smells. Fancy ladies and gentlemen carried them so they would not faint due to bad hygiene . ..but those are usually glass or metal, decorated, and much lighter.
4) a snuff bottle
Please let us know what you find in your search. I am curious.

p.s. Did I tell you I love it? Super cute!

Hello Debonyx,

I thought that all of your guesses were just like the ones I had! That thing is still a mystery to me and did not find a single thing about it on the web...
I don,t think there ever was a label on the plain (rough) side because there is no discoloration on it (but maybe there was one but was taken out after a while (sorry for my English, I,m from Quebec)...
I had not thought about a perfume bottle worn around the neck because it would be a bit too heavy...
I took the cork off to see if there was any residue or smell and nothing to smell or see...
Would you know, just by looking at the pic (way too big but I wasn,t able to make it smaller) if it's made of pottery, ceramic or something else?
Thank you so much for the reply, have a nice day! : )
