Post subject:  Can Anyone Tell Me Anything About This Old Beautiful Jug??

I found this old jug at a 2nd hand store in Washington state & had to have it! After looking it over, it appears to be very old, & I am trying to find out more about it. It is a 10" stoneware jug with what appears to be natural ash glaze. As you can see, the glaze runs down the jug creating designs in earthtone colors. The glaze has either worn off in spots, or never reached some spots, as the stone peaks out in areas, creating a rougher texture. There is a place at the neck of the piece where there is no glaze, & you can see that it stops short in spots at the bottom of the jug. It has a rough, "sloppy" bottom, with no markings anywhere on the jug. It is very heavy for its size. The shape is imperfect, not completely symmetrical.

Does anyone have any ideas about this jug? Who may have created it...what time period it may have came from. Or any ideas on someone who may be able to assist me? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much...melissa

Howdy,
Thanks for posting your piece! Like I said in my email it is WAY cool. This forum is new (had to delete the old one & start over due to spam). It was down for over a year but hopefully, it'll start getting allot of visitors again & someone will offer some ideas?
Thanks again,
Tyler
